No. 5 Marion (3-1, 1-0) at EL DORADO (2-2, 0-1): El Dorado leads the series 7-2, but the Patriots have won the past 2 meetings, 27-23 in 2022 and 50-13 a season ago. El Dorado beat Marion 60-27 in the 2021 semifinals before the Wildcats won the Class 6A state title. Marion bounced back from its lone loss, scoring the game's final 45 points in a 45-7 homecoming victory over Sylvan Hills. The Patriots outgained the Bears 383-75 last week, including limiting Sylvan Hills to minus-3 yards passing. Marion sophomore tailback Jeremiah Dent and senior Jalen Smith each topped 100 yards rushing, with Dent scoring his first 3 varsity touchdowns and Smith scoring 2. Gilmore against Catholic, but that was all the scoring for the Wildcats. Marion could play without as many as 5 starters because of injuries, while El Dorado continues to evolve after the offseason defections of 4 starters.
