HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 9 Highland at No. 20 Valley View
The winner takes control of the 3-4A. Conference coaches voted Highland to win the league and Valley View to finish second in the spring in Hooten's Arkansas Football Magazine. Defending league champion Highland handled its five opponents this year by an average of 44-17. Senior quarterback Sterling Stowers has generated almost 1,000 yards this fall, despite sitting most of the second half of every game. Stowers tallied four touchdowns in last week's 34-point win at Brookland. "They are physical and run the ball more than I expected," Valley View coach Shannon Sherman said. "Stowers is a playmaker with his feet and hands. When he throws it, he's very accurate."

Valley View counters with an offense that averages 35 points per game. The Blazers played top-ranked Stuttgart closer than any opponent this season, losing by 15 points in Week 2. "But we aren't satisfied with moral victories," Coach Shannon Sherman said. Consistent junior QB Noah Johns has passed for more than 800 yards this season. Senior Payton Sanders and junior Jacob Lorenzana provide deep threats at receiver and both were members of Valley View's state championship 4X100 relay team in May. Blazer senior Oliver McNabb has racked up 74 tackles this year, including 23 stops in last week's mercy-rule victory over Pocahontas. The improving Blazer defense missed just 10 tackles in last week's victory, Sherman said.

WEEK 6 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS followed by point spread)
1-4A
Berryville at FARMINGTON (28): Berryville hasn't beaten Farmington since 2003. Farmington must shake last week's six-point loss to undefeated Prairie Grove, when the Cardinals threw five interceptions.
PEA RIDGE (21) at Gentry: Undefeated Pea Ridge beats its opponents by an average of 31 points per game. Blackhawk senior Dayton Winn has rushed for almost 800 yards and 11 TDs this season.
Gravette at OZARK (10): Gravette's 34-point win over Gentry last week snapped its three-game losing skid. Ozark gives up less than 10 points per game. Ozark senior QB Jonathon McKenzie has produced eleven TDs this season, including five in last week's 41-point win at Berryville;
PRAIRIE GROVE (17) at Lincoln: Prairie Grove continues cruising toward its first conference title since 2005 after slipping past Farmington 27-21 last week. The cousin tandem of Logan and Weston Bartholomew combined for 238 yards and two TDs a week ago.

2-4A
Clinton at DOLLARWAY (18): Undefeated Dollarway averages 43 points per game, while Clinton surrenders 31 points weekly. Dollarway senior Joshua Lidell scored two TDs in last week's 64-0 win at Marianna. See highlights on Clinton's games against Arkansas Baptist and at Pottsville now on hootens.com.
HEBER SPRINGS (42) at Marianna: Four years ago, Heber Springs notched one of the more memorable wins in school history, rallying from a 30-0 second quarter deficit at Marianna to eke out a 32-30 triumph. But the Panthers shouldn't find themselves in a hole this time. Winless Marianna hasn't scored this season.
SOUTHSIDE BATESVILLE (3) at Lonoke: Southside Batesville beat Lonoke 20-19 last season, its first-ever win over the Jackrabbits. Southside Batesville continues pushing toward its first playoff appearance. The Southerners shocked Clinton 31-6 last week, returning two interceptions for TDs. The Southerners, in their sixth year of varsity competition, had never returned an interception for a TD until last week. Senior running back Jordan Childress has rushed for 567 yards and seven TDs this year.
Newport at STUTTGART (16): Undefeated Stuttgart has won its two conference games by a combined 74-7. The Ricebirds have won the past two games against Newport, including a one-point triumph in the 2009 playoffs when they executed a hook-and-ladder in the waning moments to set up the winning score. Ricebird QB Dontrell Brown ran for three TDs and passed for another in last week's 34-7 win at Heber Springs. Newport freshman Carl Turner ran for 230 yards in last week's 14-point win over Lonoke.

3-4A
POCAHONTAS (14) at Brookland: Brookland still seeks the first conference victory in school history. The Bearcats gave up 34 first-quarter points in last week's 46-12 loss to Highland. Pocahontas yields 19 points per game.
Jonesboro Westside at CAVE CITY (10): Jonesboro Westside's one-point win at Trumann last week was its first conference victory since 2009. Warrior running back Katun Dodd scored two TDs against Trumann. Cave City senior Darren Stigger ran for 134 yards in last week's 15-point loss at Gosnell.
Trumann at GOSNELL (18): Gosnell has won four of the past six in the series, with Trumann winning one-point thrillers in 2006 and 2008. But Trumann hasn't won a game this season, while Gosnell has won its two conference games by a combined 28 points.
HIGHLAND (2) at Valley View: Hootens.com Class 4A Game of the Week.

4-4A
BOONEVILLE (7) at Dardanelle: Booneville travels to Dardanelle for the second straight season. The Bearcats start five sophomores on defense, and sophomore fullback Bryson May paces the Bearcat rushing attack. Dardanelle senior QB Evan Carter throws the ball well, "and defensively they give us fits because they are so physical up front," Booneville coach Scott Hyatt said.
MAUMELLE (24) at Dover: Maumelle has scored 83 points the past two weeks. Senior Terry Rhoades, a transfer from Mayflower, ran for two TDs, caught a TD and threw a TD pass in last week's 42-0 win over Waldron.
POTTSVILLE (14) at Mena: Pottsville junior QB Michael Perry has rushed for more than 600 yards and eight TDs this season, and he returned an interception 70 yards for a score in last week's 29-point win over previously unbeaten Dardanelle. Mena jumped to a 42-0 lead in the first half against Dover last week. See highlights of Pottsville's win over Fountain Lake and Clinton now on hootens.com.
Waldron at SUBIACO ACADEMY (6): Waldron beat Subiaco Academy by eight points last year for its first conference victory since 2006. But the Bulldogs have scored just 14 points this year. Subiaco Academy gives up 27 points per game.

7-4A
ARKADELPHIA (16) at CAC: Undefeated Arkadelphia impresses each week. The Badgers are 5-0 for the first time since 1987, when they won the state title. Junior QB Jakahari Howell has rushed 88 times for 732 yards and 10 TDs and passed for more than 700 yards and nine TDs this year, while junior Kris Oliver has rushed for 74 times for 575 yards and 10 scores.
Arkansas Baptist at NASHVILLE (32): Nashville may have saved its season with a second-half rally last week. Nashville dropped consecutive games in Weeks 3 and 4, and the Scrappers trailed CAC 14-13 at halftime a week ago before rallying 49-21. Senior QB Joel Hendry has completed 98 of 150 passes for 1,531 yards and 20 TDs this fall.
Ashdown at MALVERN (7): Ashdown overcame five turnovers and rallied from a 20-point deficit in the fourth quarter last week, beating Bauxite 28-27. Undefeated Malvern allows 16 points a game. Senior QB Austin Warford has tallied almost 1,000 yards of offense this fall. Watch highlights of Malvern's win over Bauxite in the conference opener on the video page at hootens.com.
BAUXITE (3) at Pulaski Robinson: Winless Bauxite played well against Malvern two weeks ago and was up on Ashdown in the fourth quarter last week before losing by one point. Pulaski Robinson hasn't won since beating Little Rock Fair by two points in Week 2. Watch highlights of Bauxite's conference opener at Malvern on the video page at hootens.com.

8-4A
DeWitt at CROSSETT (14): DeWitt scored its first points of the season in last week's 25-14 win at Lake Village. Crossett hung with Warren in Week 4 before dumping Dumas 14-7 a week ago when Dominic Williams ran for a TD, caught a TD pass and made the two-point conversion.
Dumas at WARREN (12): Warren is unbeaten since Justin Gorman took over as QB two weeks ago. The sophomore threw five TD passes in last week's 28-point win over Star City. Injuries have forced the Lumberjacks to start nine sophomores on offense the past two weeks. Dumas gives up 35 points a game. Watch highlights of Warren's season opener against Shiloh Christian on the video page at hootens.com.
HAMBURG (7) at Star City: Hamburg gets better weekly. An opposing coach says the Lions are the most physical team in the conference. Hamburg QB Logan Morris threw for 188 yards and a TD in last week's 31-7 homecoming triumph over Monticello.
Lake Village at MONTICELLO (18): Lake Village hasn't won a conference game since 2010. Monticello must get more consistent on offense. The Billies have been shutout twice this year and scored a TD in another game.
