No. 11 Dardanelle (4-1; 2-0) at NO. 12 CLINTON (5-0, 2-0): This game helps determine the conference champion. Dardanelle has won 6 of 10 meetings between the 2 teams over the past 24 years.

Clinton escaped Pottsville 24-20 a week ago by rushing for 295 yards behind junior Rylan Jones (21-135-3), sophomore Harold McNabb (8-77) and junior fullback Zach Hunt-Gonzalez (17-77). The Yellow Jackets defense limited Pottsville to 228 yards. Senior end Eli Henson had 9 tackles, including 3 for loss.

Dardanelle junior QB Creed Vega continues putting up staggering numbers, running 6 times for 165 yards and 3 TDs and passing for 178 yards and 2 TDs in the first half of last week's 54-point win over Dover. Vega has almost 1,400 yards and 20 TDs this fall. Junior Rod Chaten caught 4 passes for 94 yards and 2 TDs, and returned 2 interceptions for TDs vs. Waldron, while Ian Branson ran for 34 yards and completed 2 passes for 52 yards and 1 TD. Hunter Anderson (10 tackles) and Trey Robinson (7 tackles) led the defense.

NO. 1 ELKINS (5-0, 2-0) at Lincoln (3-2; 0-2): Elkins rolled over Berryville 55-6 last week. QB Ben Napier (8-9 passing, 92 yards, 2 TDs; 2-17-1 rushing) played well in the first half, along with WRs Landon Martin (3-59-1) and Isaiah Haywood (2-25-1). DE Owen Baublits returned an interception for a TD. Lincoln committed 2 turnovers and surrendered 250 yards rushing in last week's 7-point loss to Gentry. The Wolves put up 428 yards against Gentry. Kale Jones passed for 246 yards and 3 TDs and ran for 58 yards, while junior Kayden Job caught 6 passes for 159 yards and 1 TD, rushed 5 times for 24 yards and threw a 70-yard TD pass.

 

Berryville (1-4; 1-1) at NO. 5 PRAIRIE GROVE (4-1; 2-0): Prairie Grove piled up 507 yards in last week's 45-0 win over Huntsville. Senior QB Alex Abshier (5-11 passing, 147 yards, 1 TD; rushing TD) hooked up with Isaac Moss (3-123 receiving, TD) and Jace Edwards (6-117-2) led the rushing attack. Berryville Coach Macklin Chermack said the Bobcats didn't play well in last week's 55-6 loss to Elkins.

 

Huntsville (1-4; 0-2) at NO. 7 GRAVETTE (5-0. 2-0): Gravette's Gabe Holmes ran for 3 TDs and QB Cameron Bedwell threw 3 TD passes in last week's 49-8 win over Green Forest. The Lions led 35-8 at halftime. Huntsville failed to score and surrendered 507 yards in last week's 45-0 loss to Prairie Grove.

 

Green Forest (1-4; 0-2) at NO. 20 GENTRY (4-1; 0-2): Gentry has won 7 of the past 10 over Green Forest. With QB Talan Williams sidelined with an injury, Gentry had 3 players attempt passes (combined 8 of 14 for 58 yards) but ran for 250 yards in last week's 35-28 win over Lincoln. Senior Bennett Roberts (17-231-3) led the rushing attack and made 10 tackles at LB. Senior Ezekiel Strong returned a kickoff for a TD, caught 3 passes, and made 11 tackles. Aiden Eller, Houston Nance and Kydon Lynch each contributed 9 tackles. Green Forest trailed Gravette 14-8 in the second quarter last week before losing 49-8. QB Mason Meador threw a 25-yard TD pass to Brityn Gilliam and Gabriel Serna added the 2-point conversion. Meador finished with 106 yards passing, while Jace Meador (8 tackles) and Grady Gordon (9 stops) topped the tackle chart.

Forrest City (1-4; 1-1) at NO. 4 MILLS (5-0; 2-0): This is the first home game of the season for the Comets, who have given up 6 points this fall. Senior Zion Smith racked up 10 tackles, including 1 sack, in last week's 41-0 win at Heber Springs. Freshman QB Elijah Moody (18-28-206-2 TD passing; 12-220-3 rushing) led the offensive barrage. Forrest City won its first game last week, beating Hall Steam 37-35. RB Kevin Young, Jr. (15-227-3 rushing, 2-26 receiving) led the Mustangs. Isiah Dale (11 tackles) and Jeremy Holmes 93 tackles, 2 forced fumbles) were the defensive leaders.

 

CAC (1-4; 1-1) at Hall Steam (2-3; 1-1): CAC has beaten Hall Steam the past 2 seasons (40-27 last year). CAC won its first game last week, beating Riverview 42-14. Freshman QB Jackson Plumlee passed for 198 yards and 2 TDs, while sophomore Gus Smith ran for 172 yards and 3 TDs and caught a 67-yard TD pass. Gus McConnell (6-80 rushing, 1 TD; 10 tackles on defense) played well on both sides of the ball. Hall Steam had more than 300 yards offense in last week's 37-35 loss at Forrest City. Connor Jackson and Jahari Farbe each had interceptions.

 

HEBER SPRINGS (2-3; 1-1) at Bald Knob (0-5; 0-2): Heber Springs has won 9 of the past 15 years vs. Bald Knob. Heber Springs turned the ball over 6 times in last week's 41-0 loss to Mills, but the defense played well at times, forcing 4 punts, Panthers head coach Caleb Carmikle says. Carter Julian led the defense with 10 tackles, while Liam Buffalo and Eli Buffalo each had 9 stops. Bald Knob's defensive line has played well this year.

 

LONOKE (2-3; 2-0) at Riverview (0-4; 0-2): Lonoke has rebounded from an 0-3 start with consecutive wins over Forrest City and Bald Knob by a combined 76-0. QB Dylan Dean (11-14-159-1) led the offense, along with WR Jonathan Hixson (5-88-1; 6 tackles) and RB Ryder Ingle (3-37-1; 10 tackles). Riverview, riddled with injuries, has been outscored by a combined 80-21 in consecutive losses to Hall Steam and CAC. Trevion Green ran for 145 yards and Daniel Harbin had 135 yards in last week's 42-14 loss to CAC.

 

3-4A

Blytheville (2-2; 2-0) at NO. 9 HIGHLAND (4-0; 2-0): Blytheville, which has never lost to Highland, beat Jonesboro Westside 40-7 last week. QB Jontavious Johnson, WR Derick King and RB Courtney Rogers played well. Highland sophomore QB Austin Christy (18-27-288-4), a converted receiver, played well in last week's 46-16 victory over Trumann, along with sophomore WR Jimmy Jenson (5-103-3), who played QB in junior high. DL Kalei Tokanang made 6 tackles, including 1 sack, while Aiden Daggett had 6 stops.

 

NO. 10 SOUTHSIDE (5-0; 2-0) at Jonesboro Westside (1-4; 0-2): Southside has allowed 7 points in 2 conference games, and it held Cave City to negative yardage last week. Senior Owen McLaughlin ran for 3 TDs vs. Cave City. Jonesboro Westside has been outscored 70-7 in 2 conference losses.

 

POCAHONTAS (2-3; 1-1) at Cave City (2-3; 0-2): Pocahontas has won 9 of the 10 games played against Cave City. Pocahontas QB Spencer James (6-6 passing, 90 yards; 4-30 rushing) directed the offense in last week's 26-14 win at Gosnell, while D.J. Coffey ran for 105 yards and 3 TDs. Ty Menard (15 tackles), Ryder Baltz (14 tackles) and Austin George (10 tackles) led the defense. Cave City had negative yardage in last week's 63-0 loss to Southside. Chris Robinson played well on defense for the Cavemen.

 

Trumann (2-3; 1-1) at GOSNELL (1-4; 0-2): Gosnell found offensive rhythm last week when Isaiah Donnerson (12-118 rushing; 5-8 passing, 75 yards) entered the game at quarterback. Trumann lost to Highland by 30 points last week. Tony Postell, Jr., ran for 88 yards and 1 TD and had 9 tackles; Isaiah Carrillo had 8 stops.

No. 11 Dardanelle (4-1; 2-0) at NO. 12 CLINTON (5-0; 2-0): Hootens.com Class 4A Game of the Week, above.

 

NO. 13 MENA (5-0; 2-0) at Ozark (3-2; 1-1): Ozark has won 6 of the past 7 in the series. The Hillbillies lost to Waldron 2 weeks ago but bounced back last week with a 46-21 win over Dover (led 32-7 in the second quarter). Senior QB Koby Wilbanks returned from injury, running 14 times for 207 yards and 3 TDs, and passing for 172 yards and 2 TDs. Undefeated Mena has beaten Pottsville and Lamar the past 2 weeks by a combined 72-35. Brody Peters has rushed for almost 800 yards this season, including 195 yards and 1 TD in last week's 34-21 win over Lamar. Jair Hernandez kicked 2 40-yard field goals and has made 4 field goals of more than 40 yards during the past 2 weeks. He also racked up 11 tackles.

 

POTTSVILLE (4-1; 0-2) at Waldron (2-3; 0-2): Pottsville has won 9 of its 10 games over Waldron, but the Apaches have lost their past 2 conference games (24-20 vs. Clinton last week) after starting 3-0. Waldron beat Ozark 2 weeks ago before losing to Dardanelle 60-6 a week ago. Jaxson Brown led the Bulldogs by rushing for 51 yards and making 13 tackles. Garrett Morris had 5 tackles, including 1 sack.

 

Dover (1-4; 0-2) at LAMAR (2-3; 0-2): Dover yielded 464 yards and committed 5 turnovers in last week's 46-12 loss to Ozark. Lamar produced 205 yards in last week's 34-21 loss to Mena. WR Eli Jones caught 6 passes for 64 yards and 1 TD and led the defense with 15 tackles.

 

7-4A

NO. 2 ARKADELPHIA (3-2; 2-0) at Fountain Lake (1-4; 0-2): Fountain Lake turned it over 4 times in a 49-0 setback to Nashville after putting up 72 points the previous game at Bauxite. Arkadelphia has beaten Nashville and Bauxite in its conference games by a combined 91-19. QB Bryston McCoy passed for 240 yards and 4 TDs in last week's 49-7 win over Bauxite. Junior DE Skyler McClure (8 tackles, 4 TFL, 3 sacks), Xzavion Williams (7 tackles, 3 TFL), Quentavion Morris (6 tackles, 2 sacks) and DL Nykisson Wimberly (6 tackles, 4 TFL) were leaders on defense.

 

Bauxite (2-3; 1-1) at NASHVILLE (2-3, 1-1): Bauxite scored 78 points 2 weeks ago, but managed 7 points in last week's 42-point loss at Arkadelphia. Marcus Wimberly ran 86 yards for Bauxite's only score. Nashville intercepted 4 passes, including 2 by Roochie Wiley, in last week's 49-0 win at Fountain Lake. QB Karsen Chambers completed 12 of 14 passes for 140 yards, while DJ Jefferson threw 2 TD passes and ran for 2 more for the Scrappers. Nashville's offensive line played its best game of the season, Coach Shawn Jackson says.

No. 19 Ashdown (3-2; 2-0) at NO. 6 MALVERN (5-0; 2-0): Malvern has won 9 of the past 16 over Ashdown. The Leopards scored 39 unanswered points in last week's 52-12 victory at H.G. Haskell. QB Sedrick Allen threw 3 TD passes in the first half and ran for another. Eli Hinton (13 yards), Jabori Jacobs (69 yards) and Wesley Morely (48 yards) all ran for Leopards TDs. Ashdown beat Genoa Central 34-0 a week ago. Riley Williamson took over as Ashdown's QB 2 weeks ago, and has passed for 446 yards and 6 TDs and rushed for 142 yards and 2 TDs. Kamarion Fricks ran 13 times for 84 yards and 2 TDs in the second half vs. Genoa Central, while Hayden Ziegler led the defense with 14 tackles and 1 interception return for a TD.

 

Genoa Central (0-5; 0-2) at H.G. HASKELL (0-5; 0-2): These young programs have never played. Genoa Central showed improvement last week, trailing Ashdown 12-0 in the third quarter before losing 34-0. H.G. Haskell trailed Malvern 7-6 in the second quarter before losing 52-12. Sophomore James Foster ran for a TD.

 

8-4A

No. 16 Hamburg (4-1; 1-1) at NO. 3 WARREN (3-2; 2-0): Warren has lost once to Hamburg since Bo Hembree became head coach in 2000. Warren rallied in the fourth quarter last week to beat rival Monticello. QB Cam Burks passed for 290 yards and 4 TDs and ran for 28 yards, while Josiah Stein caught 2 TD passes and intercepted a pass. But the Lumberjacks offense is still too inconsistent and has committed 17 turnovers (5 returned for TDs), Coach Bo Hembree says. Hamburg beat Helena 30-6 a week ago. Senior LB Peyton Sellers made 12 tackles while DE Aaron Brown had 4 tackles and 2 sacks to key a defense that held Helena to minus-40 yards. Sellers, playing more offense the past 2 weeks, ran 27 times for 218 yards and 2 TDs.

 

No. 18 Stuttgart (3-2; 1-1) at NO. 8 DEWITT (3-2; 1-1): These teams haven't played since DeWitt beat Stuttgart by 3 points in the 2019 opener. But Stuttgart has won 10 of the past 12 in the series. Ricebirds sophomore QB Cain Price (16-19-290-5) spearheaded the attack in last week's 42-14 Homecoming win over Crossett. QT Johnson caught 3 TD passes, while Demari McKinney (12 tackles) led the defense. Beau Barnes had 8 stops and an interception. DeWitt intercepted a pass in the red zone in the final seconds last week to preserve a 37-36 win over previously undefeated Star City. Junior Korri Graham ran the ball hard, coach Tommy Cody says. Griffin Whitmore had 1 INT. and caught a pass to set up the winning TD.

 

No. 15 Star City (4-1; 1-1) at NO. 14 MONTICELLO (3-2; 1-1): Star City has won 7 of the past 12 in the series. Star City fell behind 27-6 in the second quarter in last week's 1-point loss to DeWitt. Kevin Johnson made 12 tackles and graded out as the team's top blocker at H-back. Colby McGough added 11 tackles, 1 forced fumble and broke up 2 passes. Monticello played well in last week's 12-point loss to Warren, holding the Lumberjacks under 100 yards rushing. WR/DB Curtis Barrow caught 5 passes for 76 yards and 1 TD and made 3 tackles. Blaine Hayden (8 tackles, 1 INT. return for a TD), Jagger Hines (8 tackles, 1 forced fumble) and Laytn Nichols (7 tackles, 1 interception) led the Billies defense.

 

NO. 17 HELENA (4-1; 1-1) at Crossett (0-5; 0-2): Crossett has won 10 of the past 15 over Helena, but the Eagles are winless this fall. Crossett trailed Stuttgart 35-6 in the third quarter last week before losing 42-14. Crossett ran for 271 yards. Helena lost its first game last week, falling at Hamburg 30-6. Senior Trey Johnson has played well, lining up at QB, WR and in the secondary, Coach Russell Smith says. Sophomore LB Keavan Brown leads the Cougars in tackles.
