Wynne (4-1; 2-0) at VALLEY VIEW (5-0, 2-0): Wynne has won 7 of the 10 games these teams have played. Friday's winner takes a big step toward the conference title.

Valley View rolled to a 37-12 win over Harding Academy last week. Senior QB Drew Gartman, a converted receiver, completed 12 of 18 passes for 237 yards and 2 TDs, and ran 19 times for 204 yards and 3 TDs. Senior WRs Andrew Jones (5-110-1) and Laird Cullen (3-103-1) feasted on Harding Academy's secondary. Ryder Wooten led the defense with 9 tackles and 2 sacks.

Wynne escaped winless Greene County Tech 21-14 last week despite forcing 3 turnovers and limiting GCT to 34 offensive plays. Braydon Smith (24-116 rushing, 2 TDs) led Wynne's offense. Senior linebacker Sy Mars (5 tackles, 1 interception), Braylan McDowell (6 stops) and Christian Wren (5 tackles, 1 forced fumble) were leaders for Wynne's suffocating defense.

5A CENTRAL
Watson Chapel (1-4, 0-2) at NO. 16 MAUMELLE (3-2, 1-1) (Thurs.): Maumelle, which has won 5 of its 6 meetings with Watson Chapel, was led by RB Marshaun Wiley (12-92 rushing) in last week's 21-18 win at Pine Bluff. Senior lineman Landon Canady drew praise from Hornets Coach Brian Maupin: “He was dominant on both sides,” Maupin says. Watson Chapel's Kameron Hobbs returned an interception for a TD, then ran in a 2-point conversion in last week's 55-14 loss to Searcy.

White Hall (1-4; 1-1) at NO. 2 JOE T. ROBINSON (4-1, 2-0): White Hall beat Beebe 26-14 for its first win of the season. DB De'Marius Lattimore returned an interception 98 yards for a crucial TD in the fourth quarter. Kylon Davis ran for 3 TDs. Joe T. Robinson has outscored Watson Chapel and Jacksonville the past 2 weeks by a combined 91-0. Senior QB Tyson Bradden passed for 86 yards and 2 TDs in last week's 42-0 win over Jacksonville, while Kevin Williams and Jordan Thomas each ran for TDs. The Senator defense forced 4 turnovers.

No. 18 Pine Bluff (1-4; 1-1) at NO. 14 BEEBE (3-2, 1-1): Beebe committed 3 turnovers in last week's 26-18 setback at White Hall. QB Mason Harbin and his brother, RB Madden Harbin, each ran for TDs. Pine Bluff QB Davonte Wallace passed for 174 yards and 3 TDs, 2 to Tristan Helloms, in last week's 21-18 Homecoming loss to Maumelle.

Jacksonville (1-4; 0-2) at NO. 6 SEARCY (4-1, 2-0): Searcy has won 10 of the past 16 meetings in a matchup between these former 6A East members (or its equivalent). Jacksonville turned the ball over 4 times in last week's 42-0 loss to Joe T. Robinson. Searcy whipped Watson Chapel 55-14 a week ago, behind senior QB Johnny Bell (20-29 passing, 286 yards, 2 TDs) and junior RB Curtis Goodrich (21-126-4). Sophomore Derrick Young has 6 interceptions since taking over at cornerback 3 weeks ago.

5A EAST

No. 10 Wynne (4-1; 2-0) at NO. 3 VALLEY VIEW (5-0, 2-0): Hootens.com Class 5A Game of the Week, above.

Paragould (3-2; 0-2) at NO. 15 NETTLETON (4-1; 2-0): Paragould, after a 3-0 start, has lost to Valley View and Batesville the past 2 weeks. Rams senior Mikey Pekrul made 10 tackles in last week's 35-0 setback to Batesville. Nettleton jumped on Brookland 21-0 in the first half last week, cruising to a 42-20 victory. Senior QB Maddox Hampton passed for 118 yards and 2 TDs, while junior Xavier Harrell ran 11 times for 143 yards and 3 TDs. Senior LB Kohen Ligons led the defense with 12 tackles and 1 fumble recovery.

NO. 7 HARDING ACADEMY (2-3; 1-2) at Batesville (1-4; 1-1): These teams have never played. Harding Academy's 29-game conference win streak was snapped last week by Valley View 37-12, and the Wildcats' 3 losses this season are its most since going 7-4 in 2018. Harding Academy trailed Valley View 21-0 in the second quarter and surrendered 483 yards. Harding Academy QB Owen Miller was held to 133 yards passing. Batesville picked up its first win, beating Paragould 35-0. Junior QB Cole Bentz passed for 173 yards and 2 TDs and ran for 49 yards, while senior Cale Glasgow ran 8 times for 45 yards and 1 TD. Sophomore Rourke Sevier had 10 tackles.

BROOKLAND (3-2; 0-2) at Greene Co. Tech (0-5; 0-2): Greene County Tech has won 3 of its 4 meetings over Brookland, and the Eagles enter this matchup having played their best game last week in a 21-14 loss to Wynne. Brookland held Nettleton to 282 yards last week, but turned the ball over 3 times and had a punt blocked in the 42-20 decision. Senior RB Calvin Spearman ran 28 times for 126 yards, while senior WR Caden Chambers caught 5 passes for 53 yards and 1 TD.

5A SOUTH

Hope (0-5; 0-2) at NO. 1 LR PARKVIEW (4-1, 2-0) (Thurs.): Top-ranked Little Rock Parkview has beaten Hot Springs and De Queen the past 2 weeks by a combined 128-21. The Patriots jumped on De Queen 47-7 in the second quarter a week ago before winning 66-7. “Our entire offensive line has started to play well,” Coach Brad Bolding says. Cameron Settles ran for 3 TDs vs. De Queen and blocked a punt for a TD. Winless Hope has been outscored by an average of 45-9 this season.

Arkansas High (0-5, 0-2) at NO. 4 HS LAKESIDE (4-1; 2-0): Winless Arkansas High geTS outscored by an average of 22 points per game. Senior QB William Dunbar threw 3 TD passes in last week's 68-24 loss to Camden Fairview, but the Razorbacks were held to 3 yards rushing. HS Lakeside is the opposite, averaging 220 yards rushing weekly. Senior Grady Ohman ran 28 times for 181 yards and Britton Diaz added 9 carries for 66 yards in last week's 36-7 victory over Magnolia. Juniors Luke Wrublesky (10 tackles) and Doke Douglas (9 tackles) lead on defense.

NO. 9 CAMDEN FAIRVIEW (3-2; 0-2) at Magnolia (3-2; 1-1): Camden Fairview has won 16 of the past 24 in the series. Camden Fairview jumped on Arkansas High 27-17 in the first half last week, then outscored the Razorbacks 41-7 in the second half. Senior QB Darrell Atkins passed for 286 yards and 3 TDs but got plentty of help from senior Trent Haygood (84 rushing, 3 TDs; 8-173 receiving, 3 TDs). Magnolia lost to HS Lakeside 36-7 last week despite 118 rushing yards a TD from Jamarion Young and 105 passing yards from QB Titus Nelson. Junior LB Carmelo McDonald led the defense with 12 tackles.

NO. 19 HOT SPRINGS (2-3; 1-1) at De Queen (3-2; 0-2): Hot Springs won its first conference game, hammering Hope 68-13. Robert Blevins (23-253 rushing, 2 TDs) and QB Sean Elias (85 rushing, 3 TDs). Kolby Holder led the defense with 5 tackles, including 2 TFL. De Queen's 3-game win streak was snapped last week at LR Parkview.

5A WEST

No. 8 Greenbrier (3-2; 0-2) at NO. 11 FARMINGTON (4-1; 2-0): Greenbrier has won 8 of the past 10 meetings over Farmington, and the Panthers pounded Clarksville last week 58-6. Junior Enoch Assan ran 6 times for 160 yards and 3 TDs. Marcus Simpson had 5 first-half tackles, while Eric Huett blocked a punt and returned it for a TD. Farmington has won 4 in a row since losing to Shiloh Christian in the opener. The Cardinals handled Harrison 33-14 a week ago. Hunter Reaves kicked a 31-yard field goal to break a scoreless tie in the second quarter and added another in the fourth quarter. Farmington QB Ayden Lester threw 3 TD passes to Dawson Keaton.

Clarksville (1-4; 0-2) at HARRISON (0-4; 0-2): Harrison has won 13 of the past 15 over Clarksville. The Goblins played well early last week against Farmington before losing by 19 points. Sky Lee played well at RB/LB, while Layton Aulds made plays at nose guard. Clarksville has lost conference games to Vilonia and Greenbrier by a combined 109-19, and it trailed Greenbrier 42-0 in the first half last week.

NO. 5 MORRILTON (5-0; 2-0) at Pea Ridge (0-5; 0-2): Undefeated Morrilton (5-0 for the first time since 1995) held off Alma 30-29 last week, the fourth consecutive time a game in the series has been decided by a single point. The Devil Dogs stuffed a 2-point play in the final minutes, then another Alma drive after an onside kick. Raylen Thomas (123 rushing, TD), QB Maddox Berry (274 passing, 2 TDs), WR Andrew Rhoden (10-208 receiving, 2 TDs) led the offense. Caden Meeler totaled 17 tackles for the defense. Winless Pea Ridge trailed Vilonia 21-3 in the third quarter last week before losing 28-23.

No. 12 Vilonia (4-1; 2-0) at NO. 13 ALMA (4-1; 2-0): Vilonia's Cadien Gibson forced a fumble that the Eagles recovered, then helped them march 96 yards for the clinching fourth quarter TD in last week's 28-23 win over Pea Ridge. Gibson finished with 101 yards rushing. Alma scored 20 points in the fourth quarter last week but fell to Morrilton 30-29. Airedales QB Michael Taylor ran for 179 yards and 2 TDs and threw 1 TD pass.
