HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 5 Lake Hamilton at No. 3 El Dorado
These teams have split the last eight meetings with El Dorado winning four of the past five. The Wildcats beat Lake Hamilton 24-20 in last year's title game, six weeks after losing to the Wolves 31-24.
Lake Hamilton's two losses this year have been to Class 7A No. 2 North Little Rock (42-7) and No. 4 Pine Bluff (40-9). The Wolves surrendered 28 unanswered points last week in that loss to Pine Bluff. The Zebras threw three touchdown passes and returned an interception 87 yards for a score. Senior quarterback Clay Jessie triggers an offense averaging 32 points per game. Junior linebacker Chris Eastburn leads on defense. "They're probably the biggest team we've seen," El Dorado coach Scott Reed says, "and their linebackers are really good. It's hard to find ways to run against them."
Three-time defending state champion El Dorado has won four straight games by an average of 32 points this fall after back-to-back losses to Class 5A No. 2 Camden Fairview (49-21) and Class 7A No. 6 Fort Smith Southside (38-21). "We're finally getting healthy and getting better every week," Reed says. Senior QB Lucas Reed has completed 54 of 93 passes (58 percent) for 825 yards and 11 TDs with three interceptions. Senior RB Josh Brock leads El Dorado with 90 carries for more than 500 yards and seven TDs. Senior RB Marque Burris has 72 carries for almost 500 yards and five scores. Senior linebacker Patrick Seweje (team-high 30 tackles) and junior tackle Bijhon Jackson (6-3, 320) spearhead a budding defense which shut out LR Central a month ago and held Texarkana to a season-low seven points last week.
