HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK

NO. 2 CEDAR RIDGE (6-0) at No. 5 Midland (5-0): Midland welcomes Cedar Ridge in a battle of unbeatens. The Mustangs handled business against Augusta, holding the Red Devils to eight points and scored a season-high 64 led by Brayden York and Hunter May. Midland will face its toughest challenge yet in Cedar Ridge, which will be missing quarterback Aiden Jones. The T-Wolves should still be in good hands with Jonas Elms (12 of 17 passing, 207 yds with 5 total touchdowns), who stepped up in Cedar Ridge’s win over South Side Bee Branch.

WEEK 7 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS and highlighted)

NO. 4 BRINKLEY (3-1) at No. 8 Marvell (2-3): Brinkley is feeling confident with a 3-game winning streak and fresh off of an idle week. Marvell, meanwhile, needs to get back on track after a brutal 2-game stretch when it lost to Cedar Ridge and Strong, the top two sanctioned teams.

No. 12 Guy-Perkins (0-6) at NO. 9 AUGUSTA (1-5): Something has to give in this matchup of teams in major need of a win. The Thunderbirds are hunting the program's first win in their season of football, while the Red Devils have dropped 5 consecutive since the season-opening walk-off victory over Dermott.

NO. 7 SOUTH SIDE BEE BRANCH (4-1) at Rose Bud (1-6, unsanctioned): South Side looks to rebound on the road after suffering its first loss as a program, to undefeated Cedar Ridge. Rose Bud fell to Marshall, coming up short of earning consecutive wins for the first time despite strong performances from Herschel Hart (175 rushing yards, 1 TD) and Glenn Hunkapillar (140 rushing yards, 2 TDs).

NO. 6 WOODLAWN (4-2) at No. 10 Dermott (1-4): Both squads had last week off and are aiming to get back on track in the final month of the regular season. Dermott has lost 3 in a row, while Woodlawn has won 2 of its past 3 but was held to 14 points and 136 total yards by sanctioned No. 1 Strong on Oct. 4.

UNSANCTIONED

NO. 1 CORNING (5-1) at No. 2 Marshall (3-4): Corning is well-rested after having last week off and has its focus set on securing a conference championship while remaining unbeaten against in-state competition. Marshall regained some confidence in last Friday's win over Rose Bud after dropping 4 of their previous 5 games. Keegan Robbins led the way with a 130-yard rushing performance.
