HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 2 El Dorado at No. 3 Pine Bluff
The winner grabs the South's No. 2 playoff seed, while the loser finishes as the No. 3 seed and must travel to Lake Hamilton in the semifinals.
El Dorado won its first seven games this fall with a powerful rushing attack but has become more balanced lately. Junior quarterback Lucas Reed (1,320 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2011) has passed for 504 yards and two TDs over the past two weeks. Junior running back Marque Burris has rushed for 1,367 yards and 20 TDs this year. "It's going to be a challenge," Pine Bluff coach Bobby Bolding says. "Their offensive line is pretty physical."
Pine Bluff's offense (39 points per game) has been very productive this season with senior QB Jordan Humphrey running the option attack. Humphrey, senior RB Jalen Dabner, senior fullback Lemmie Daniels and junior RB Walter Ashley have all rushed for more than 500 yards. The Zebras have improved defensively over the past two weeks since a narrow victory at Texarkana, Bolding says. "We're trying not to panic when a team makes a play. El Dorado's going to make some plays."
