HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 21 Gosnell at No. 11 Valley View
The winner takes the conference championship and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Valley View, in just its fifth year of varsity competition, has won more than seven games in a season for the first time. The Blazers are guaranteed at least a share of the title. Gosnell hasn't won a conference championship since going 12-1 and capturing the 3AAA in 2002.

Valley View started talking about winning a conference crown in the off-season, said coach Shannon Sherman. The Blazers rely on a bevy of senior linemen to spark its Spread offense. Senior running back Kevin Bosze has rushed for almost 1,000 yards this season, his first to start in the backfield. Senior quarterback Taylor Lindley, a three-year starter, "has matured throughout the season," Sherman said. "He's very confident in what we are doing offensively. We've been able to throw the ball, but we can't greedy with a deep pass."

Gosnell averages 41 points per game. Pirate junior QB Gavin Sullivan has completed 95 of 167 passes (57 percent) for 1,454 yards and 15 touchdowns, with just two interceptions this season. He's also rushed for 869 yards and six scores. Senior Zach Perrin has rushed for 546 yards and 15 TDs while junior halfback B.J. Allen has gained 593 yards and 10 scores. "We've got to tackle better," Sherman said.

WEEK 10 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS followed by point spread)
1-4A
Farmington at SHILOH CHRISTIAN (35): Shiloh Christian has applied the 35-point sportsmanship rule in every league game this year. Saint senior running back Garrett Harper has 1,317 all-purpose yards and 16 total TDs.
Highlights of the game will be featured on Hooten's Arkansas Football at 11 a.m. Saturday on KFSM TV 5.
GRAVETTE (7) at Prairie Grove: Prairie Grove will miss the playoffs for the first time 1995. Gravette, the league's No. 2 playoff seed, averages 29 points per game, and hosts Gosnell, Highland, Osceola or Trumann in the first round.
Ozark at GENTRY (4): The winner takes the No. 3 playoff seed while the loser finishes fourth and probably travels to Nashville in the first round. Gentry scored two fourth-quarter TDs in last week's four-point win at Prairie Grove, which gave it a playoff berth for the first time since 1998.
PEA RIDGE (3) at Berryville: Both teams are searching for its first conference win and each gets outscored 17 points per game.

2-4A
Cave City at HEBER SPRINGS (24) (Thurs.): Heber Springs can tie for the league title if Clinton loses, but the Panthers may not get the No. 1 seed due to the playoff points tie-breaker. Panther running back Markeyvus Mays gained 188 yards and three TDs in last week's one-point win over previously unbeaten Clinton.
STUTTGART (2) at Marianna (Thurs.): The winner ensures itself a playoff spot. Stuttgart trailed Lonoke 7-3 at halftime last week before winning by nine points. The Ricebirds are in the playoffs for the 14th straight season. Marianna has made the playoffs just 10 times in school history.
Clinton at LONOKE (7): Lonoke probably needs to win by at least 13 points to give itself a chance to make the playoffs. Even if Clinton loses, it can claim the league title and top playoff seed with some help.
Highlights of the game will be featured on Hooten's Arkansas Football at 11 a.m. Saturday on KFSM TV 5.
NEWPORT (24) at Southside Batesville: Newport secures its 24th straight playoff berth with a victory over the winless Southerners. The Greyhounds likely finish as either the No. 4 or No. 5 playoff seed.

3-4A
Gosnell at VALLEY VIEW (3) (Thurs.): Hootens.com Game of the Week.
POCAHONTAS (21) at Jonesboro Westside (Thurs.): Pocahontas can make the playoffs if it wins and Highland beats Trumann. The Redskins trailed Highland by 28 points at halftime last week.
Trumann at HIGHLAND (4) (Thurs.): Trumann must win to secure its third consecutive playoff berth. The Wildcats rushed for 299 yards in last week's nine-point win over Osceola. Highland can finish as high as the No. 2 seed (if it wins and Gosnell loses), or as low as the No. 5 seed (with a loss).
OSCEOLA is open.

4-4A
Dover at DARDANELLE (6) (Thurs.): Dardanelle still has playoff hopes, but the Sand Lizards must win. Dover QB Colton Williams has been slowed by an ankle injury the past three weeks. Sophomore QB Jody Brown threw two TD passes in last week's 22-0 win over Waldron.
BOONEVILLE (14) at Mena: Two weeks ago this game looked like it was for the league title. Regardless of the outcome, Booneville is the No. 1 seed, and Mena, which has lost consecutive games, will finish as the fourth seed.
CLARKSVILLE (17) at Waldron: Clarksville makes the playoffs if it wins or Dardanelle loses. The Panthers give up 39 points per game. Waldron has won just two conference games over the past four years.
Pottsville at SUBIACO ACADEMY (2): The winner gets the No. 2 playoff seed. Pottsville tallied more than 500 yards of offense in last week's 27-point win over Clarksville. Subiaco Academy, which yields just 10 points per league contest, is in the playoffs for the second straight season.

7-4A
Pulaski Oak Grove at PULASKI ROBINSON (8) (Thurs.): This is the final game for Pulaski Oak Grove, which becomes Maumelle High School next season. Pulaski Robinson can finish as the No. 2 playoff seed if it wins. These teams tied 12-12 a year ago and Pulaski Oak Grove beat the Senators 28-0 in 2008.
DeQueen at MALVERN (21): Malvern can finish anywhere between the No. 3 and No. 5 playoff seed. Leopard senior safety James King returned an interception for a TD at Nashville last week, his ninth interception of the year.
Highlights of the game will be featured on Hooten's Arkansas Football at 11 a.m. Saturday on FOX 16.
NASHVILLE (28) at Bauxite: Nashville overcame multiple suspensions and beat Malvern by five points last week. Sophomore QB Joel Hendry threw two TDs and ran for a score in his first varsity start.
PULASKI ACADEMY (13) at Ashdown: Pulaski Academy has locked up its fifth conference championship in seven years. The Bruins average 48 points per game, while Ashdown surrenders just eight.

8-4A
DUMAS (14) at Hamburg (Thurs.): Dumas will finish as the No. 2 playoff seed but has a rugged playoff draw (No. 5 team from the 7-4A). Bobcat QB Darion Griswold has generated more than 1,300 yards of offense this fall. Hamburg can make the playoffs if it wins by at least eight points and Lake Village beats Warren by at least 13 points.
Dollarway at STAR CITY (7) (Thurs.): Star City, already the league's No. 1 playoff seed, can sew up its first outright league title in more than 50 years. The Bulldogs have won seven straight games, but they trailed winless DeWitt in the second quarter last week before winning by 26 points. Dollarway will probably finish as the No. 4 playoff seed.
WARREN (12)
at Lake Village (Thurs.): Warren must win to advance to the playoffs for the 16th straight season. The Lumberjacks built a four TD advantage against Hamburg last week. Hamburg beat Lake Village by six points two weeks ago.
MCGEHEE (21)
at DeWitt: McGehee can get the No. 3 playoff seed with a victory. McGehee's T'Cambry Green ran for two TDs in last week's three-point setback to Dumas.
