HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 3 Rison at No. 4 Harding Academy
These tradition-rich programs combined for three state titles from 2000-2004 and meet in the playoffs for the first time since 1995. Rison beat Harding Academy 35-0 in the semifinals that year on its way to the Class A state title. Rison boasts a 62-27 record in the postseason, while Harding Academy is 44-21. The schools have combined to win 94 games since moving to Class 3A in 2006.
Rison, the 6-3A league champ, beat Yellville-Summit 48-0 and Riverview 39-7 to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2005. Rison, led by senior interior linemen James Cranford and Patrick Abeyta, allows nine points per game (best in Class 3A). Senior running back Raphael "Rock" Caldwell has rushed for more than 1,600 yards and 25 touchdowns this year and is Rison's all-time leading rusher with more than 5,100 yards and 84 career TDs. "They're by far the best team we've faced," said Harding Academy coach Roddy Mote. "They take care of the football and don't make a lot of mistakes." Rison's only loss was to Class 4A No. 4 and playoff quarterfinalist Star City 28-13 in Week 2.
Harding Academy, which has lost four games over the past three years under Mote, is in the quarterfinals for the second straight year. Harding Academy beat Bald Knob 41-14 last week after cruising through the 2-3A (31-point average margin of victory). Senior QB Seth Keese has completed 140 of 222 passes (63 percent) for 1,842 yards and 17 TDs and has 116 carries for 1,102 yards (9.5 yards per carry) and 16 TDs this fall. He has accounted for 8,811 yards and 105 TDs in his career. Junior Jay Bona leads Harding Academy with 55 catches for 595 yards and eight TDs, while junior Ben Lecrone gains more than 6 yards per touch. Harding Academy gave up a season-high 436 yards rushing in a 28-14 loss to Class 4A No. 17 Heber Springs in Week 2, its only blemish of the year.

TOP HALF OF THE BRACKET
West Fork at GLEN ROSE (6): West Fork is in the quarterfinals for the first time since 2006 when it won at Harrisburg 35-14. The Tigers have been successful in switching to a Wing T attack this fall with senior Logan Genz and junior Will Jarnagan combining for more than 1,800 yards. The duo also leads on defense with 93 and 85 tackles, respectively. Glen Rose escaped the second round with a one-point win over Fordyce in overtime, stopping the Redbugs on a two-point conversion attempt to win the game. The Beavers are 28-8 (4-2 in the postseason) under third-year coach Mark Kehner. Senior RB Steven Kehner has rushed for 2,412 yards and 37 TDs this year, bringing his career total to 6,307 yards and 80 TDs. Kehner needs 187 yards to pass Barton's Jonathan Bradley (6,493 yards from 1996-98) for fourth place all-time.
Harrisburg at RIVERCREST (2): Harrisburg scored 26 unanswered points in last week's 34-22 win at Charleston to reach the quarterfinals for the second straight year. Senior QB Zach Davis passed for 204 yards and a TD, topping Greenwood's Brooks Coatney for fourth place all-time with 10,160 career yards. The Hornets make their second trip to Wilson in a month. Harrisburg pushed the Colts in the regular-season affair, trailing by just two points with three minutes left in the game. Rivercrest senior QB Demoine Brown returned an interception 51 yards for a TD to seal the win. Last week, the Colts rallied from a 27-0 halftime deficit to beat Camden Harmony Grove by one point. Senior playmaker Terrence Banks ran 27 yards to finish a hook-and-lateral play to tie the game with 17 seconds left. Senior Trevor Gregory booted the game-winning extra point.
BOTTOM HALF OF THE BRACKET
Rison at HARDING ACADEMY (1): See Hootens.com Game of the Week.
FOUNTAIN LAKE (4) at Mansfield: Both teams have combined to win 15 playoff games since 2008. Nine of Fountain Lake's 11 playoff wins in school history have been with senior RB Mark Makin (3,689 yards and 52 TDs in his career) in the backfield. Mansfield has won all six of its playoff games under fifth-year coach Jason Gill. The Tigers have been eliminated in the quarterfinals the past two years (at Lamar in 2008 and at Rivercrest in 2009). But Mansfield has won 10 of its past 11 home games, losing to Class 4A No. 9 and playoff quarterfinalist Mena 14-7 in Week 3 this fall. The Tigers have a slight size advantage up front, but Fountain Lake's depth on the defensive line could be the difference. Mansfield senior RB Seth Feimster (1,749 yards and 23 TDs) became the school's single-season rushing leader after his 105-yard performance in last week's 24-7 win over Greenland. Feimster has rushed for 2,800 yards and 31 TDs in his career.
