NO. 1 LR PARKVIEW (11-1) at No. 2 Valley View (12-0): LR Parkview returns to the semifinals for the third consecutive season after Maumelle 48-7. The top-ranked Patriots led Maumelle 41-0 in the second quarter a week ago. Senior Jermaine Penny took a screen pass 33 yards for a TD on the game's third play, and Penny caught a 47-yard TD pass on Parkview's next possession. Sophomore quarterback Emannuel Bunting hit Penny for his third TD of the first half on the next possession, then senior receiver Quentin Murphy, a converted QB, had 2 TD runs. Junior linebacker Jakore Smith had 2 sacks and returned a fumble for a TD in the first half.

Valley View reaches the semifinals for the second time (lost at Warren 27-20 in 2013) and ties the school record for wins after getting past Morrilton 49-42 in overtime. The Blazers trailed for the first time with less than 4 minutes remaining, then Parker King (3-65 receiving, TD; rushing TD) returned a kickoff 78 yards for a TD. Senior QB Drew Gartman passed for 216 yards and 1 TD, and ran for 86 yards and 2 TDs, and senior Andrew Jones caught 5 passes for 109 yards. Senior safety Daniel Richardson led the defense with 13 tackles and 3 pass breakups. Senior LB Jayde Taylor (6 tackles, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery) knocked a pass down on the final play in overtime to preserve the win.

5A South (2) HS Lakeside (10-2) at 5A WEST (1) FARMINGTON (11-1): Hot Springs Lakeside makes its first appearance in the semifinals since 1975 when the Rams lost to Stuttgart in the Class AA championship game. The Rams haven't lost this season since falling to No. 1 LR Parkview 38-12 in Week 9. They beat Nettleton 42-7 in the first round of the playoffs and slipped past 5A Central champion Joe T. Robinson 21-17 a week ago. Junior QB Wally Wolcott (14-21 passing, 235 yards, 3 TDs) hit senior WR Ryan Ballard (5-146 receiving, 2 TDs) on the winning 47-yard TD play with less than 3 minutes left. Senior workhorse Grady Ohman helped control the clock with 35 carries, 125 yards and 1 TD. Junior LB Luke Wrublesky made 13 tackles.

Farmington is in the semifinals for the first time since losing to Barton in the 1986 Class A semifinals. Farmington won the 1973 Class B state title, then lost 5 times in the semifinals from 1974-1986. The Cardinals trailed Camden Fairview 14-0 in the first quarter last week before rallying for a 42-21 victory, giving coach Tommy Tice his 300th career victory. Farmington outscored Fairview 28-0 in the second half, including 21-0 in the fourth quarter. Senior Russell Hodge had 147 yards (87 receiving, 57 rushing, 3 passing) and scored 5 TDs. Junior QB Ayden Lester passed for 206 yards and 1 TD and ran for 117 yards and 1 TD, while Luke Elsik ran 18 times for 64 yards.
