HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 4 Fountain Lake at No. 2 Charleston

These teams meet for the third time in the past four years and have combined to win 21 playoff games during that stretch. Charleston beat Fountain Lake 47-20 in the 2008 state title game. The Cobras eliminated Charleston in the quarterfinals a year later en route to capturing their first state championship.
Fountain Lake knocked off Rison 34-26 last week to advance to the semifinals for the fourth straight season. The Cobras have beaten two Top 10 teams (No. 6 Rison and No. 9 Glen Rose) this year after trailing at halftime. Two of Fountain Lake's four losses were to No. 1 Prescott and No. 3 Harding Academy by a combined six points. Senior QB Michael Pope has completed 92 of 153 passes (60 percent) for 2,092 yards and 25 touchdowns with two interceptions this year. Junior fullback Mackenzie Ross has 167 carries for 1,158 yards and 17 TDs. Junior running back Shelton Smith (11.8 yards per carry) and sophomore RB Marc Roberts (10.8 ypc) have combined for 939 yards and 11 scores. Junior receiver Jordan Stone has 40 catches for 1,098 yards and 16 TDs. "They're physical up front and have several guys who can beat you," Charleston coach Doug Loughridge says.
Charleston has beaten Fordyce and Harding Academy by a combined 56-9 over the past two weeks. The Tigers' only loss this year came to 1-4A champ Ozark 20-14 in Week 3. Senior QB and Farm Bureau Awards Class 3A Offensive Player of the Year finalist Dustin Shelby has completed 105 of 180 passes (58 percent) for 1,967 yards and 19 TDs with four interceptions this fall. Shelby has 175 carries for 962 yards and 17 scores. He has generated 4,819 yards (3,157 passing, 1,662 rushing) and 57 TDs in his career. Senior playmaker Seth McCann gains 10.4 yards per play and has scored 10 TDs, while recording 61 tackles and 10 interceptions. Senior linebacker David Weeks paces the Tigers with 91 stops. "They're a lot like that 2008 team," Fountain Lake coach Tommy Gilleran says. "It will be a big deal to beat two powerhouses in a row on the road."
