WEEK 14 PREDICTIONS (favored team highlighted in yellow and ALL CAPS)

5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME (Saturday, 12 p.m., War Memorial Stadium)

No. 2 Shiloh Christian (12-1) vs. NO. 1 LR PARKVIEW (11-2)

Top-ranked Little Rock Parkview plays in its first state title game since 1983. The Patriots last won a state championship in 1978. The Patriots were regarded as one of the state's most talented teams (3 future NFL players) but lost 9-6 in 1983.

T he 2022 Patriots, riding a 10-game win streak, beat Joe T. Robinson 27-12 a week ago. Senior Darien “D.B” Bennett (23-133 rushing, 2 TDs) scored the game-clinching TD on a play when he broke multiple tackles. Patriots sophomore Cameron Settles (13-102 rushing, 1 TD) caught a 21-yard pass off a fake field goal to set up a TD. Bennett has 174 carries this season for 1,254 yards and 16 TDs. The Patriots sacked Joe T. Robinson 4 times and recorded 8 other tackles behind the line of scrimmage. The Patriots have won their 3 playoff games by an average of 33-6.
Shiloh Christian has won 8 state championships since 1998, and return to title game for the fourth consecutive season but have never won a title in Class 5A.
The Saints never trailed in last week's 48-19 semifinal win over Camden Fairview. Senior QB Eli Wisdom ran for 243 yards and 4 TDs, including a 55-yard burst on the game's third play. The Saints ran for 426. Junior Bo Williams (25-151 rushing, 3 TDs) and Bodie Neal (7-84 receiving) complemented Wisdom. Senior Noah DeJarnatt racked up 10 tackles at linebacker, and recovered a teammate's fumble that led to a Shiloh Christian TD, with the Saints clinging to a 21-13 advantage. The Saints' average margin of victory in 3 playoff games is 57-22. “Wisdom is the best we've played this year,” Parkview Coach Brad Bolding says. “We have to corral him.”
