No. 1 Rivercrest at No. 3 West Fork
Rivercrest makes its second straight appearance in the semifinals, fourth since 2002, after defeating Mayflower (54-25), Camden Harmony Grove (28-27) and Harrisburg (44-28). The Colts won at Nashville 36-34 in 2002 to advance to the championship game. Rivercrest, which scores 42.5 points per game (best in Class 3A), has outscored its opponents 172-6 in the first quarter. Senior quarterback Demoine Brown has accounted for 1,851 yards offense and 28 touchdowns, while senior running back Earl Byrd has 81 carries for 509 yards and 12 TDs. Senior playmaker Terrence Banks, who gains more than 19 yards per touch, paces the Colts with 17 catches for 482 yards and seven TDs. Banks has accounted for 3,705 yards and 36 TDs, including two kicks and three punts returned for scores this year, and recorded 141 tackles and nine interceptions (four returned for TDs) in his career. Rivercrest, led by seniors Michael Wright (team-high 122 tackles) and Trevor Gregory (team-high 19 tackles for loss), carries a plus-31 turnover ratio, creating four turnovers weekly.

West Fork is in the semifinals for the first time since 2006. The Tigers dropped two of their first three games this season before cruising through the 1-3A (26-point average margin of victory) and eliminating Cedarville, Jessieville and Glen Rose by a combined 99-33 in the playoffs. West Fork, which gives up 10.5 points per game (best in Class 3A), held Steven Kehner (No. 5 all-time with 6,351 career yards) to 44 yards rushing in last week's 27-7 win at Glen Rose. Senior tackle Payton Hurt (nine sacks) and junior tackle Chris Worley (14.5 sacks), along with senior ends Clayton Smith and Taylor Karnes, control the line of scrimmage for the Tigers. Senior Logan Genz has rushed for 1,256 yards and 22 TDs this fall (despite missing three games with mononucleosis), including 149 yards and two scores last week. At linebacker, Genz has recorded 351 tackles (42 for loss), 18 forced fumbles and three interceptions in his career. Senior receiver Logan Lichty leads West Fork with 612 yards and six TDs.

OTHER SEMIFINAL GAME
No. 5 Fountain Lake at No. 2 Harding Academy
These teams met in the semifinals last year and the season-opener this fall. Defending state champ Fountain Lake beat Harding Academy 42-10 a year ago, but lost to the Wildcats 28-20 in Week 1. The Cobras advanced to the semifinals for the third straight year after eliminating Hoxie (44-6), Earle (30-12) and Mansfield (44-21). Senior RB Mark Makin has 128 carries for 1,074 yards and 13 TDs this year, including 325 yards and five TDs in the playoffs. Makin has rushed for 3,803 career yards (8.8 yards per carry) and 54 TDs. Senior QB Coleman Crawford has completed 52 of 85 passes for 1,527 yards and 18 TDs. Junior Dale Smith (688 yards rushing, seven TDs) leads Fountain Lake with 17 catches for 526 yards and five TDs. Senior big-play receiver Austin Harvey has 14 catches for 566 yards and nine TDs. The Cobras, led by senior linebacker John Curtis (101 tackles), allow 15 points per game.

Harding Academy, which gave up 373 yards rushing in the season-opener against Fountain Lake, has allowed 20 points and 101 yards rushing in its postseason wins over Bald Knob (41-14) and Rison (35-6). Senior QB Seth Keese has completed 154 of 240 passes (64 percent) for 2,024 yards and 17 TDs and has 132 carries for 1,088 yards (8.2 yards per carry) and 20 TDs this season. Keese has accounted for 9,103 career yards and 109 TDs. Junior Jay Bona paces the Wildcats with 61 catches for 650 yards and eight TDs. Junior Ben Lecrone has 120 carries for 665 yards and 11 TDs, including a season-high 121 yards against Rison, and 34 catches for 381 yards and two scores. Harding Academy is 33-4 under third-year coach Roddy Mote.
