STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME RECAP
Arkadelphia won its first state title in 30 years, getting past Warren 28-27. Senior cornerback Dillon Scott intercepted Warren's pass in the end zone in the final seconds to preserve the win, but Scott's biggest contribution was likely an open-field tackle on Warren's Treylon Burks at the 8-yard line on the previous play. Warren attempted their final play from the 23-yard line when an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty was accessed to the bench after a fan ran onto the field.
Arkadelphia sophomore quarterback Cannon Turner earned MVP honors, rushing 20 times for 56 yards and a touchdown, and completing 10 of 17 passes for 281 yards, including the game-winning 81-yard toss to seniorĀ Alex Lewis with 3:19 left. Junior Gabe Goodman's kick set the final margin. Lewis finished with three catches for 108 yards, while senior Logan Lucas grabbed four passes for 108 yards. Junior Victor Tademy's 31-yard punt return late in the second quarter set up a short Arkadelphia TD to give the Badgers a 21-7 advantage with 2:06 left in the second quarter. Junior middle linebacker Josh Wallace led Arkadelphia with 13 tackles.
Burks produced a highlight reel game. He ran 18 times for 116 yards and two TDs, caught four passes for 178 yards and two TDs, threw an 11-yard pass and averaged 27 yards per kickoff return. Burks paced all tacklers with 16 stops, including three tackles for loss, and he intercepted a pass near the goal line.
