BOONEVILLE — Brody Chambers ran for two touchdowns, Devon Ritchie supplied a long scoring run and a productive punt return, and Booneville rolled past Waldron 44-14 in its homecoming game Friday night.
The Bearcats scored on all five first-half possessions to build a 36-7 lead, then added a touchdown on their opening drive of the third quarter. The broadcast credited Booneville with 311 rushing yards and 28 passing yards, with Chambers leading the ground game at 122 yards on 10 carries.
Booneville first had to withstand a serious Waldron threat. Austin Hudson broke a run of approximately 70 yards on the opening possession, but Hayden Daniel chased him down to prevent a touchdown. The Bearcats then stopped the Bulldogs on fourth-and-goal, with Sadler Miller and Braxton Hubble among the defenders on the play, and took over at their own one.
The offense drove the full 99 yards. Daniel completed the march with a nine-yard touchdown run, and the extra point gave Booneville a 7-0 lead with 4:21 remaining in the first quarter. Early in the second, Chambers broke free for a 43-yard touchdown. Toby Weaver added the kick for a 14-0 advantage.
Waldron answered when Hudson kept the ball around the left side for a nine-yard touchdown with 6:27 left in the half. The successful extra point cut Booneville’s lead to 14-7, but the Bearcats responded almost immediately. After Ayden Rhinehart secured the Bulldogs’ attempted onside kick, Ritchie took a pitch 47 yards for a touchdown on the next offensive snap. Daniel ran in the two-point conversion, making it 22-7 with 6:17 remaining.
Chambers added a five-yard touchdown run at the 2:01 mark, and Ritchie converted the two-point attempt for a 30-7 lead. Booneville still had time for one more score. Ritchie returned a punt deep into Waldron territory, and Tayden Washburn connected with Callen Montalvo for an 11-yard touchdown. The final two-point attempt failed after penalties required multiple tries, leaving the halftime score 36-7.
The Bearcats resumed their ground attack after the break. Ritchie produced another long gain, Washburn made useful runs, and Chambers moved the ball to the one. Rylie Swint finished the drive on a toss with 6:02 left in the third quarter. Booneville converted for two again, stretching the margin to 44-7 and triggering a running clock.
Waldron scored its final touchdown on a pitch to Brown with 10:18 remaining in the fourth quarter, then added the extra point. Booneville’s lead was secure. Alongside Chambers, Ritchie finished with 76 rushing yards on three carries, while Washburn was credited with 45 rushing yards on seven attempts and 28 passing yards. Miller led the Bearcats with seven tackles, according to the broadcast’s postgame statistics.
