HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
Class 2A No. 8 Carlisle at No. 14 Barton
Carlisle beat Class 4A Bauxite 30-21 a week ago. The Bison gave up 76- and 60-yard touchdown runs on Bauxite's first two possessions but responded with long scoring drives and never trailed after taking a 14-13 lead before halftime. Senior quarterback/safety Zach King intercepted a pass 2 yards deep in the end zone and returned it 76 yards to seal the victory. Sophomore running back Bo Weddle has rushed for 260 yards this season. "We think Carlisle's pretty good," Barton coach Van Paschal says, "and they're pretty quick for a team that likes to cloud it up."
Barton rushed for 393 yards in last year's 33-16 win at Carlisle, outscoring the Bison 33-8 in the second half. Last week, the Bears defeated Clarendon 48-22. Barton outscored the Lions 26-6 in the second half. Senior fullback/linebacker Ethan Roberts ran for 175 yards and two TDs, while racking up 12 tackles. "They've got a speed advantage," Carlisle coach Scott Waymire says. "Hopefully we can control the line, which we didn't do last year, and keep the ball away from their highly explosive ball players."
