HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 7 Fordyce at No. 9 Camden Harmony Grove
Fordyce plays its third road game in four weeks. The Redbugs have won two in a row since a 58-34 loss to Prescott. Senior quarterback Cole Johnson has completed 89 of 143 passes (62 percent) for 1,534 yards and 24 touchdowns with two interceptions this year. Junior running back Larry Buckley leads Fordyce with 62 carries for 607 yards (9.8 yards per carry) and six TDs. He has caught 26 passes for 323 yards and eight scores. Senior Rashad Allen paces the Redbugs with 32 catches for 594 yards and eight TDs. Junior Charles York averages a team-high 28.5 yards per catch. Senior linebacker Xavier Warner leads with 71 tackles and three sacks. "They're loaded with athletes and speed," Harmony Grove coach Tony Chambers says. "We tend to play them pretty well. Hopefully that's the same this week." Senior fullback/linebacker Austin Nutt (injured ankle vs. Smackover), senior left guard Austin Hollis (knee) and senior left tackle Marcus Smith (knee) did not practice last week and are day-to-day.
Harmony Grove has beaten Fordyce by a combined six points over the past two years. The Hornets have lost their past two games this fall by a combined 12 points to Prescott and Smackover. Harmony Grove trailed Prescott by two points in the fourth quarter, and led Smackover 27-7 at halftime. The Hornets gave up 245 yards rushing in last week's 36-33 loss to Smackover. Senior QB Zach Fletcher completed 12 of 25 passes for 227 yards and three TDs but threw three interceptions. Junior receiver Zamarquus Gentry caught six passes for 94 yards and a TD. Senior Xavier Singleton and sophomore Aaron Autrey fuel Harmony Grove's rushing attack. Junior linebacker Darvis Shaw leads on defense. Junior lineman Jacob Johnson (6-3, 270) returns after serving a one-game suspension. "The reason they've beaten us is because they outcoach us," Fordyce coach Tim Rodgers says. "They're fundamentally sound and they don't beat themselves."
