El Dorado at No. 1 Camden Fairview
The winner of this game has won a state championship each of the past four seasons. The teams split the past eight meetings, with Camden Fairview controlling the line of scrimmage in last year's 28-point win at the three-time defending Class 6A champs.

El Dorado coach Scott Reed's defense gave up a touchdown or less in five games last year. Rivals.com ranks senior tackle Bijohn Jackson (6-3, 315) as one of the top 150 players in the nation. Jackson (67 tackles, six sacks in 2012) committed to Arkansas in the spring. "They have speed and are long," Camden Fairview coach Buck James says.

All 72 Camden Fairview players made every practice and weight lifting session in the summer for the first time in James' nine seasons. Senior quarterback Matt Ollison passed for 2,538 yards and 33 touchdowns last year, while senior right guard Octavian Torrence (6-0, 299) and senior left guard Justin Brown (5-10, 275) started most games the past two seasons. Senior outside linebacker Keion Mitchell (143 tackles last year) and safety Daren Champ (79 tackles) impressed in summer workouts.

HOOTEN'S TV SHOW
Hooten's Arkansas Football TV show airs 10::30 a.m. Saturdays this fall on KATV 7 (ABC-Little Rock) and KXNW (Ch. 34 Fort Smith/Fayetteville) starting Sept. 7. The show features the state's top recruiting prospects. In the first show, Fayetteville will be featured as the Verizon Wireless/Nokia Siemens Network Football Town of the Week.

5A CENTRAL
Jacksonville at CABOT (21): This longtime series ends after this game. Cabot hasn't lost to Jacksonville since 2005.
SEARCY (21) at LR McClellan: A battle of new coaches. First-year Searcy coach Jeromy Poole debuts his wide-open attack. Searcy beat Little Rock McClellan by 18 points in a weather-shortened game last year. LR McClellan hired former Earle and Blytheville coach Maurice Moody in the summer.
HS LAKESIDE (8) vs. LR Christian: Hot Springs Lakeside has beaten LR Christian by a combined 109-41 the past three years, which coincide with Coach Jeff McBride's arrival at HS Lakeside. Lakeside senior QB Garrett Carson passed for more than 3,000 yards the past two seasons.
LR PARKVIEW (1) at Mills: LR Parkview has beaten the Comets by an average of 28 points the past two seasons. Mills senior linebacker twins De'Marrio and Ke'Undra Allen anchor a defense that gave up a TD or less in six games.
MEMPHIS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL (25) at Pulaski Academy: MUS started its 2012 state runner-up finish with a 22-point win over Arkansas' eventual Class 7A state champion Fayetteville. Pulaski Academy has won 37 games the past three seasons.
Sylvan Hills at VILONIA (10): Vilonia has beaten the Bears the past three years by a combined 94-28. The Eagles' defensive TD was the only score in this game last season. Eagle running back Houston Cotton won the Class 5A 300- and 110-meter hurdles in May.
West Helena at DOLLARWAY (18): Dollarway's only two losses last season were at eventual state champion Stuttgart and eventual state semifinalist Highland by 10 points each. Cardinal senior QB/tailback Joshua Liddell generated more than 1,300 yards last season.
LR Fair at NORTH PULASKI (1): The teams have combined for 14 wins over the past seven seasons. North Pulaski beat LR Fair by one point in last year's opener.

5A EAST
SPRINGDALE (10) at Batesville: Batesville finished as state runner-up last season despite losing at Class 7A Springdale by 35 points in the opener. The Pioneers shift to a 3-4 defense this season with senior tackle Bret Bell (120 tackles, 16 sacks) and linebacker Joey Rodriguez (140 tackles). Springdale dresses 83 players, including 36 seniors.
Paragould at VALLEY VIEW (8): Valley View beat the Rams by 19 points in last year's opener. Paragould hasn't been to the playoffs since 2004, while Valley View aims for its second conference title in four years.
BLYTHEVILLE (1) at Osceola: Blytheville's 12-point win over Osceola in last year's opener was its only non-conference victory. The Chickasaw junior high won its league title last season.
Gosnell at FORREST CITY (11): Forrest City pummeled the Pirates by 46 points in last year's opener, but it should be closer this fall. Gosnell's junior high won its league title last season.
GREENBRIER (7) at Beebe: Greenbrier has won three straight over Beebe, including 35-0 in last year's opener. The Panthers won 11 games last fall, including the first undefeated regular season in school history. The Panthers return three starters in the secondary, including All-5A West safety Kevin Reynolds (78 tackles, three interceptions). Beebe's top running back left the program in the spring, but the Badgers return nine starters on defense, including all-state tackle Daniel Gann (5-11, 245) and noseguard Dusty Skinner (5-11, 290).
Greene Co. Tech at JONESBORO (21) (Thurs.): Jonesboro scored a season-high 69 points in last year's 39-point win over Greene County Tech. Eagle senior QB Dylan Hartwig passed for 1,863 yards and 15 TDs last year, but the most experienced receiver caught just one pass.
NEWPORT (1) at Nettleton: Each team has a new coach. Newport sophomore Carl Turner ran for 1,709 yards and 13 TDs last year. Former Greyhound offensive coordinator Don Harrison took over as coach in the spring. Nettleton named former Rogers assistant Steve Hampton as head coach on June 7.
Wynne at MARION (4): Wynne has beaten Marion twice in the past eight years. Wynne must find a QB after the top two transferred last year.

5A SOUTH
EL DORADO (1) at Camden Fairview: Hootens.com Class 5A Game of the Week. The winner of this game has won a state championship each of the past four seasons.
De Queen at MENA (3): A battle of first-year coaches. Justin Kramer inherits low numbers at De Queen. The Leopards won just 10 games the past three seasons. Tim Harper takes over in Mena after leading Searcy to 24 wins in four years.
Hope at NASHVILLE (8): Hope's receivers, led by senior Javon Westmoreland, impressed opposing coaches in the summer. Nashville beat Hope seven straight seasons, including a combined 133-43 the past four years.
HOT SPRINGS (14) at Pulaski Robinson: Hot Springs snapped Pulaski Robinson's two-game win streak in the series last year. The Trojans return size up front, senior Jekebran Johnson (6-3, 280) and junior Clifford Jackson (6-5, 320).

Crossett at MAGNOLIA (1): Former El Dorado defensive coordinator John Panter takes over at Magnolia. Crossett beat Magnolia by 25 points in last year's opener. Former Bastrop, La., assistant and Lake Providence coach Sonny Nason took over at Crossett in July.
WHITE HALL (14) vs. Monticello (Tue., at UAPB): These former conference rivals collide at UAPB's Golden Lion Stadium during Simmons First/Hootens.com Kickoff Week. White Hall showcases junior QB Kirk Baugh and running backs Irvin Tisdale and Kendrick Edgerson (combined for more than 2,000 yards last year). Monticello will run more Spread schemes this year. Former Billie coach Johnny McMurry returned to the sideline in the summer, tutoring the QBs.

5A WEST
SHILOH CHRISTIAN (2) vs. Siloam Springs (Mon., at Razorback Stadium): This is the first meeting between these schools. Shiloh Christian has won just nine games the past two years after winning four state titles from 2006-2010. Siloam Springs lost its final two games last season by one point each, including 49-48 at Searcy in the playoffs.
ALMA (7) at Van Buren: Alma has won eight of the past 10 in the series, but Van Buren holds the overall series edge 35-25-1. First-year Airedale coach Doug Loughridge overhauled the program in the spring and summer with a game plan that relies on running the ball and playing stout defense. Van Buren second-year coach Brooks Coatney beat LR Fair and Siloam Springs last season.
GREENBRIER (7) at Beebe: Greenbrier has won three straight over Beebe, including 35-0 in last year's opener. The Panthers won 11 games last fall, including the first undefeated regular season in school history. RUSSELLVILLE (2) at Morrilton: Russellville has beaten Morrilton six of the past seven seasons, including 20-12 a year ago. Morrilton senior QB Toney Hawkins generated more than 2,700 yards and 29 TDs last season.
Harrison at OZARK, MO. (28): Ozark won 12 games last year, including a 34-point triumph over Harrison. Harrison third-year coach Chad Habison focused on defense in the spring after the Goblins surrendered 34 points a game last fall.
Sylvan Hills at VILONIA (10): Vilonia has beaten the Bears the past three years by a combined 94-28. The Eagles' defensive TD was the only score in this game last season. Eagle running back Houston Cotton won the Class 5A 300- and 110-meter hurdles in May.
Clarksville at CHARLESTON (11): Charleston first-year coach Greg Kendrick coordinated the Tiger offense the past six seasons. Charleston beat Clarksville by a total of 55 points the past three years.
Huntsville at FARMINGTON (14): Farmington beat Class 5A Huntsville by a combined 56 points the past three years. Farmington breaks in new running backs and receivers, but the Cardinals return four starters on the line, including tackle Michael Ryan (6-3, 285) and guard Jeremy Alexander (6-4, 315).
