HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 1 Greenwood at No. 6 Alma
These teams have won seven of the past nine league championships, and the winner takes the league title, top playoff seed and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Greenwood still shares the title but has the second playoff seed if it loses, but Alma could slip to the No. 3 seed.
Alma's only conference loss came at Greenbrier 36-33 in Week 7, and Greenwood hasn't lost a conference game since falling to Harrison in Week 5 last year. The Bulldogs have lost just five 5A West games since 2003, including 17-14 to Alma in 2004. Greenwood averages 45 points in its past eight games. Senior quarterback Tyler Shook has completed 132 of 197 passes (75 percent) for 1,946 yards and 19 touchdowns, and he's thrown just five interceptions. Senior receiver Spencer Harris "makes play after play," Greenwood coach Rick Jones said. "We don't go into a game trying to get him the ball a certain number of times, he just finds a way to get open." Harris is the state's second leading receiver with 54 catches for 1,153 yards and 18 TDs. Greenwood two-way starting lineman Kyle Helms won't return for at least two weeks after knee surgery last week. Senior Josh McCutcheon fills in for Helms at right tackle, and he paces the Bulldog defense with 67 tackles. Junior linebacker Marco Vota has made 54 tackles, including 12.5 tackles for loss, and has recovered three fumbles.
Alma's offense averages 38 points against 5A West opponents. Senior QB Burke Broadfoot "is our mainstay," Coach Todd Dilbeck said. Broadfoot has rushed 141 times for 938 yards and 11 TDs, and completed 72 of 135 passes for 959 yards and 15 TDs, throwing just two interceptions. Junior Isaac McCoy paces the Airedales with 23 receptions for 386 yards and eight scores. McCoy has rushed for 452 yards and seven TDs by and running jet sweeps and taking direct snaps. Junior linebacker Jason Hensley leads Alma with 97 tackles, while strong safety Patrick Lewis has 69 tackles and a pair of interceptions.

WEEK 10 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS followed by point spread)
5A EAST
Batesville at WEST HELENA (2): The winner goes to the playoffs and the loser likely stays home. West Helena's offense clicks with QB Jonathan Johnson. Batesville is loaded with underclassmen and should make a run at state titles the next two seasons.
FORREST CITY (11) at Blytheville: Forrest City has secured its first outright league championship since 1985. But Blytheville can make the post-season if it wins and gets some help from West Helena and Nettleton.
Nettleton at WYNNE (25): Wynne makes the playoffs for the 18th time in 19 years with a victory. Nettleton has scored a TD or less in six of it's past seven games.
Paragould at GREENE CO. TECH (7): This a rematch from Week 1, which Greene County Tech won 33-21. The Eagles' 14-point win at Batesville last week secured them a playoff spot for the first time since 1991. Running back Standrick Williams has rushed for 1,153 yards 12 TDs and caught 33 passes for 566 yards and five TDs this season.
5A SOUTHEAST
Beebe at SYLVAN HILLS (6) (Thurs.): The winner claims the No. 4 playoff seed and heads to either Greenwood or Alma in the first round. Sylvan Hills' defense scored two touchdowns in last week's 26-point win over Little Rock McClellan. Beebe's Adam Griffis rushed for 205 yards against White Hall.
CROSSETT (3) at LR McClellan (Thurs.): Neither team can make the playoffs. LR McClellan gives up almost 40 points in conference games, but Lion QB/safety Terrance Ingram is a playmaker. Crossett averages just 12 points per league contest.
Mills at WHITE HALL (7) (Thurs.): The winner gets the No. 2 playoff seed and a home game next week, while the loser is the No. 3 seed. White Hall running back Larry Walls has rushed for 1,638 yards and 19 TDs this year, while teammate A.J. Richardson has 994 yards and 12 scores.
North Pulaski at MONTICELLO (24) (Thurs.): Monticello has secured its third conference title in six years. But the Billies don't get a favorable playoff draw, with a possible second-round match-up against athletic Camden Fairview and a likely road semifinal contest against the West champ.
5A SOUTHWEST
MAGNOLIA (10) at Hope (Thurs.): Magnolia is in the playoffs and Hope will miss the post-season for the second straight year. Magnolia running back L.J. Berry has rushed for more than 1,200 yards this fall, including a 227-yard, four-TD effort in last week's 28-point win over Little Rock Christian.
CAMDEN FAIRVIEW (7) at Pulaski Robinson: Camden Fairview secures at least a share of its third league title in four years with a win. The Cardinals have given up 36 points the past four weeks, including just three in the past two. Pulaski Robinson can get the No. 2 playoff seed if it wins, but the Senators miss the post-season with a loss and victories by Little Rock Christian and Magnolia.
HS LAKESIDE (3) at Hot Springs: These two battle for pride in Hot Springs' city championship. HS Lakeside has trouble slowing running teams, but Hot Springs averages just 12 points in league games.
PULASKI ACADEMY (10) at LR Christian: A nationally televised game on ESPNU. LR Christian only makes the playoffs with a win and Pulaski Robinson loss. Warrior running back Michael Dyer (1,803 yards 22 TDs) left last week's 28-point loss at Magnolia with a hamstring injury. Pulaski Academy QB Wil Nicks has passed for 3,506 yards and 33 TDs this year.
5A WEST
Greenbrier at VILONIA (1) (Thurs.): Both teams in the Faulkner County Judge's Cup are playoff bound. They are in the playoffs together for only the second time ever, and first since 1989. Greenbrier can finish as the No. 2 seed if it and Greenwood both win, while Vilonia finishes third with a victory. Vilonia didn't attempt a pass in last week's 14-point win at Morrilton and the Eagles have thrown it just 18 times this year.
GREENWOOD (3) at Alma: Hootens.com Game of the Week. The winner gets the league title and top playoff seed.
Morrilton at CAC (1): Neither team can make the playoffs. Morrilton has missed the post-season three straight times since sharing the 5A West crown in 2006. CAC had made the playoffs seven straight times.
Siloam Springs at HARRISON (7): Neither team will make the playoffs. Harrison redeemed its season with last week's 15-point win over Greenbrier. Siloam Springs has dropped six straight games.
