HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 7 Alma at No. 9 Beebe
Alma hasn't won a playoff game since beating Magnolia by 23 points in the first round in 2005. They've lost at Pulaski Academy and White Hall by a combined 91-65 the past two seasons. Alma squandered the conference title and top playoff seed in last week's 52-21 loss at Greenwood. "We've told the kids the rivalry game with Greenwood is over and its time to refocus," said Coach Todd Dilbeck. "This is the third part of the season." Alma running back/receiver Isaac McCoy has ran for 28 touchdowns and caught seven TD passes this year. He ran for 83 yards and a pair of TDs in the first half against Greenwood, but played only two snaps in the second half while resting a pinched nerve that has hampered him for three weeks. The Airedales inserted junior QB Brady Bradley into the starting lineup two weeks ago "because he gives us another dimension running the ball," Dilbeck said. Senior center John Davis (6-0, 250) and left tackle Jordan White (6-6, 270) have played consistent all season, while junior Brandon Isom (5-10, 245) and Austin Gregory (6-3, 360) have graded out at least 80 percent in every game. Senior linebacker Kenneth Pearson paces Alma with 78 tackles, while brothers Gage and Gunner Jensen have combined for 119 tackles.

Beebe won six straight 5A East games and finished second in the league this season. The Badgers lost at Batesville 17-13 last week, ending hopes of a league championship. "We are disappointed that we didn't win a conference championship, but we left everything on the field," said Beebe coach John Shannon. The Badgers averaged almost 40 points per conference game with a stout running attack. Senior fullback Colby Taylor has carried 206 times for 1,447 yards and 18 TDs this year, while junior halfback Jay Holdway has gained 697 yards and 14 scores.
