HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 9 CAC at No. 5 Pulaski Academy
Central Arkansas Christian hasn't beaten rival Pulaski Academy since 2005, its only win over the Bruins in a decade. They tied 26-26 in 2007. CAC beat Dollarway 20-14 last week as junior running back Jaalen Watkins rushed for 125 yards, and junior defender John Edwards racked up seven tackles, forced and recovered a fumble and returned a kickoff 35 yards.
Pulaski Academy built a 20-point led and held off West Helena 35-33 last week, turning back a two-point conversion with 5:04 left in the game. Senior QB Wil Nicks completed 20 of 50 passes for 406 yards and five touchdowns, while senior receiver Caleb Jones averages almost 26 yards per reception.
TV SHOW
Hooten's Arkansas Football airs at 10:30 a.m. this week on Today's THV in Little Rock and KFSM in Fort Smith/Fayetteville. The show moves to its normal time of 11 a.m. on Sept. 19. Games scheduled to be featured this week include CAC at Pulaski Academy, Warren at Monticello, Pulaski Robinson at Stuttgart, Greenbrier at Mayflower and Beebe at Lonoke.

BATESVILLE (12) at Searcy: Batesville only beat the Lions by eight points in Searcy two years ago. Since, the Pioneers have won 17 games, while Searcy has won just two.
Marianna at WEST HELENA (35): West Helena's conditioning and discipline showed in the second half last week before it lost by two points at Pulaski Academy. The Cougars mauled Marianna 42-0 a year ago. Marianna lost at Hamburg by 15 points last week.
SPRINGDALE (7) vs. Blytheville (at Pulaski Academy): These teams from Northwest and Northeast cut their travel distance and meet in Central Arkansas. Springdale turned the ball over seven times last week.
Forrest City at MARION (14): These teams have split the past two meetings. Marion blocked a field goal and intercepted two passes in last week's 21-0 victory over Wynne, while Forrest City's special teams gave up a punt return for a TD in a 16-point loss against West Memphis.
JONESBORO (17) at Wynne: Jonesboro led Nettleton 44-0 at halftime last week, and Wynne didn't score against Marion. Jonesboro has won three straight over the Yellowjackets.
Trumann at NETTLETON (2): Nettleton has beaten the Wildcats six straight times, including the past two years by a combined seven points.
Highland at GREENE CO. TECH (3): Highland showed much improvement from last year's 0-10 debacle, losing 14-7 against Mountain Home last week. Greene Co. Tech senior running back Standrick Williams (270 yards and five TDs) could be one of the state's more underrated players.
Pocahontas at PARAGOULD (1): Paragould missed an extra-point and two-point conversion attempt last season in a 21-19 loss to the Redskins. Paragould junior Chance Sugg scored a pair of TDs in last week's 12-point loss to Greene Co. Tech.
5A SOUTHEAST
Warren at MONTICELLO (2): Hootens.com Class 4A Game of the Week. Monticello hasn't beaten the Lumberjacks since 2000.
Sylvan Hills at CABOT (35): Sylvan Hills mustered just 30 yards of offense in the first half against Malvern last week.
White Hall at WATSON CHAPEL (8): Both teams feature stout running attacks. White Hall's Larry Walls gained 404 yards and four TDs in last week's 10-point win at HS Lakeside, while Watson Chapel QB C.J. Branch bulled for 161 yards and two scores in a 14-point win over Warren.
Beebe at LONOKE (4): Only 25 miles separate these rivals. Beebe has won four straight over the Jackrabbits, but Lonoke senior running back Brandon Smith darted for 261 yards and three TDs in last week's 27-0 win over Pulaski Robinson.
Hamburg at CROSSETT (6): First-year Crossett coach Greg Johnson returns to his former school. Johnson led Hamburg to a three-point win over Crossett in 2006. Since, the Eagles have won two straight over their Ashley County rival.
Mills at LR HALL (1): Mills beat LR Hall 6-0 last season. The Warriors beat LR McClellan 16-14 last week, scoring two TDs and converting both two-point attempts.
LR FAIR (4) at LR McClellan: LR Fair snapped a 14-game losing streak last week, downing Hot Springs 26-14.
North Pulaski at PULASKI OAK GROVE (14): North Pulaski's special teams' errors and turnovers contributed in last week's 33-point loss to Dumas.
5A SOUTHWEST
CAC at PULASKI ACADEMY (2): Hootens.com Game of the Week. CAC hasn't beaten the Bruins since 2005, but the past three games (including a tie in 2007) have been decided by a total of nine points.
Haynesville, La. at MAGNOLIA (1): Magnolia goes for a record fourth-straight victory over the traditional Louisiana small-school power. Panther senior running back L.J. Berry rushed for 129 yards and TD in last week's 14-7 win over Crossett.
LR CHRISTIAN (7) at Morrilton: Michael Dyer ran for 187 yards and made several key tackles in last week's six-point win over Pulaski Oak Grove. The Warriors beat Morrilton by six points last season.
Fordyce at CAMDEN FAIRVIEW (14): Fordyce committed key turnovers and dropped crucial passes in last week's one-point loss to Rison. Camden Fairview gave up 421 yards to El Dorado a week ago.
Pulaski Robinson at STUTTGART (13): Stuttgart playmakers Zach Boleware (five TD passes) and Kamario Robinson (116 yards rushing) provide fireworks, while the Ricebird D faces a Senator team that didn't score last week.
HS Lakeside at MALVERN (7): Malvern's D held Sylvan Hills to 30 yards in the first half last week, while the Rams gave up 527 yards to White Hall.
Hope at GREENWOOD (24): Greenwood bounces back after last week's 35-0 loss at Class 7A Har-Ber. The Bulldogs gained just 155 yards, the least production in Coach Rick Jones' 70-game tenure.
Glen Rose at HOT SPRINGS (3): Glen Rose didn't score last week at Ashdown. The Beavers blasted Hot Springs 46-7 last season.

Stilwell, Okla. at SILOAM SPRINGS (21): Siloam Springs' D didn't allow a point in last week's win over Farmington. The Panthers have beaten Stilwell, Okla., five straight times by an average of 27 points a game.
Vilonia at JACKSONVILLE (7): Jacksonville beat Vilonia 27-21 last year when the Eagles failed to score inside the 10-yard line as time expired. Vilonia sophomore running back James Sax ran for 100 yards and a TD in his debut last week.
HARRISON (1) at Mountain Home: Harrison has beaten Mountain Home three straight times by an average of 22 points a game. Mountain Home stays close this season with an improved D.
GREENBRIER (1) at Mayflower: Greenbrier snapped a seven-game losing streak with last week's 31-22 win over Beebe. The Panthers beat Mayflower by one-point two years ago.
