HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 5 Pulaski Academy at No. 12 Camden Fairview
Pulaski Academy might push the panic button if they can't stop Camden Fairview. The Bruins ride a two-game losing skid into Ouachita County, their first losing streak since starting 2004 with an 0-2 record. They eventually won the conference title before losing in the quarterfinals.
"We are evenly matched, at least on film," said Camden Fairview coach Buck James, who owns a 2-2 record against the Bruins. Camden Fairview's defense features no player who weighs over 200 pounds, forcing the Cardinals to scheme with speed. Safety James Gulley has racked up 35 tackles while cornerback Sybhrain Berry has made 22 tackles and four interceptions. Berry also makes plays at receiver, averaging 9 yards per catch and 13 yards per rush. Running back Ryan Purifoy has rushed for 153 yards and racked up 62 yards receiving this year.
Pulaski Academy spent the week patching its run defense. Class 6A Lake Hamilton only attempted two passes in the second half of a 32-30 win in Week 3, while Magnolia ran for more than 300 yards last week. Senior safety Sam Vogel tops Pulaski Academy's tackle chart with 40 stops, including 6.5 tackles for loss and an interception. Junior noseguard Dirk Tanner has racked up 26 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss and four sacks. Senior quarterback Wil Nicks has passed for 1,452 yards and 14 touchdowns this year.

WEEK 5 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS followed by point spread)
5A EAST
Paragould at BATESVILLE (18): Batesville's D held Nettleton to minus-19 yards in the second half last week. The Pioneers haven't lost to Paragould since 1994 (when the Rams were known as Ridgecrest).
Nettleton at BLYTHEVILLE (25): Blytheville returned two kickoffs for TDs in last week's 11-point victory at Wynne. Nettleton hasn't scored a point in two weeks.
Forrest City at WEST HELENA (10): West Helena blast Paragould by 40 points last week when running back Antonio Hughes ran for four TDs. Comparing scores: West Memphis beat Forrest City 28-12 in Week 1 and West Helena 23-20 in Week 3.
Wynne at GREENE CO. TECH (3): Greene County Tech's improved defense (gives up 11 points per game after surrendering 39 a game last year) can guide it to the playoffs this fall.
5A SOUTHEAST
Mills at SYLVAN HILLS (1) (Thurs.): Mills having trouble on defense (gave up 287 yards in the first half against Monticello) and special teams (three bad snaps on punts last week). Winless Sylvan Hills allows 34 points per game.
LR McClellan at MONTICELLO (35): Monticello running back Brian Handley averaged 27 yards per touch in last week's 42-12 win at Mills. He gives the Billies another weapon to compliment QB Joe Carmical.
North Pulaski at BEEBE (10): Both teams are fresh off their first win of the season. Beebe beat Crossett 18-12 in double overtime, while North Pulaski ended a 12-game losing streak with a 35-13 win over Little Rock McClellan.
WHITE HALL (1) at Crossett: White Hall has beaten Crossett just once in the past eight years, losing the past two years by a total of 13 points. White Hall running backs A.J. Richardson and Larry Walls have teamed for more than 1,200 yards this season.
5A SOUTHWEST
HOPE (11) at Hot Springs: Talented Hope has won consecutive games after crowding the line of scrimmage and stuffing Little Rock Christian 28-14 last week. Hot Springs escaped Hope 21-13 a year ago.
HS Lakeside at MAGNOLIA (17): Magnolia will likely have a letdown after beating Pulaski Academy 38-23 last week. Panther QB Addison Henson left the game in the first quarter with a gash on his elbow, but they don't need him throwing the ball this week against the Rams.
PULASKI ACADEMY (2) at Camden Fairview: Hootens.com Game of the Week. Camden Fairview coach Buck James said the most talented team usually wins, and these two are evenly matched.
Pulaski Robinson at LR CHRISTIAN (3): Look for Pulaski Robinson to gather eight or nine players near the line of scrimmage and try to slow Little Rock Christian running back Michael Dyer.
5A WEST
ALMA (13) at Morrilton: QB Burke Broadfoot (301 total yards and five TDs in last week's 37-20 win over CAC) has developed into Alma's leader. A three-point win over Morrilton sparked Alma's five-game win streak last season.
Greenbrier at CAC (1): Youthful Greenbrier is the talk of Class 5A after beating Siloam Springs by 18 points last week. CAC running back Jaalen Watkins could return after missing the previous two games with a sprained ankle.
GREENWOOD (21) at Harrison: Harrison humbled the Bulldogs 51-48 last season, but the Goblin arsenal doesn't have the power to keep pace with Greenwood this year. The Bulldogs average 38 points per game and usually take advantage of turnovers.
Vilonia at SILOAM SPRINGS (2): Vilonia hasn't beaten the Panthers since pulling out a 35-22 decision in 2000. Siloam Springs gave up more than 400 yards in last week's 42-24 loss at Greenbrier. Vilonia's offense plays up to five sophomores at times.
