CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
No. 2 Texarkana vs. No. 1 El Dorado
Texarkana returns to War Memorial Stadium for the first time since winning back-to-back state titles in 2006 and 2007. The Razorbacks advanced to the finals by eliminating Searcy (26-14), Jonesboro (21-13) and Pine Bluff (42-28) after they finished a 4-6 regular season with a three-point loss at Sheridan. Senior quarterback Kierra Harris has completed 148 of 271 passes for 2,288 yards and 25 touchdowns and has 150 carries for 900 yards and 11 scores. Texarkana's backfield also includes seniors Charles Hillis and Tavaris Clark and sophomore Ke'Darious Grissom. They have rushed for more than 700 yards combined. Senior receiver Greg Milhorn paces the Razorbacks with more than 600 yards and nine TDs. Texarkana, led by seniors A.J. Morris and Brian Biggs, allows 20 points per game.
El Dorado makes its third straight appearance in the finals after it held on to beat Lake Hamilton 21-20 last week. Senior James Ford returned a kickoff 99 yards for a TD in the third quarter after catching a 33-yard pass to help El Dorado score on its second possession. Senior QB Taylor Reed, who completed 12 passes for 210 yards, ran into his own end zone for a safety on the final play. Reed has completed 139 of 223 passes (62 percent) for 2,261 yards and 24 TDs this fall, bringing his career total to 4,574 yards and 45 TDs. The Wildcats have won three straight over Texarkana by a combined nine points, including a 27-21 decision in Week 5. Junior Deandre Williams returned a blocked field goal 74 yards for a TD as time expired. El Dorado, led by seniors Ryan Williams and Cameron Mahone (2009 state title game MVP), gives up 15 points per game (best in Class 6A).
