Mountain Home 37, Rolla 10

ROLLA, Mo. — Mountain Home imposed its will on the ground Thursday night, beating Rolla 37-10 in a nonconference game at Lions Memorial Field. Senior running back Barrett Miller broke the Bombers’ single-game rushing record, hammering for 307 yards and four touchdowns, including bursts of 60 and 57 yards, as Mountain Home improved to 3-0 and solidified its No. 2 6A ranking. Senior quarterback Brantlee Phillips complemented the run game by lofting a 34-yard scoring strike to senior receiver Carter Adkins, and junior Isaac Ballard added a 26-yard field goal.

Rolla (2-2) had early answers and plenty of fight. Senior Carter Reeves put the Bulldogs on the board with a 22-yard field goal to open the second quarter, and senior Hayden Emory powered in from a yard out late in the fourth. Senior quarterback Easton Smith steered multiple drives, while senior slotback Jack Mrozowicz sparked the offense with a 46-yard dash and a 43-yard reception.

Mountain Home’s defense set the tone. Senior linebacker Blake Vacco forced a fumble, and the Bomber front limited chunk plays after halftime, allowing just one late scoring drive. Behind a cohesive offensive line, Miller salted away the clock with physical runs of 31, 9, 2 and 3 yards on successive possessions as Mountain Home controlled field position throughout the third quarter.

Mountain Home hosts Fort Smith Southside next in its 6A-West opener. Rolla begins a two-game road swing at North County, seeking to rebound with a road win.
