CORNING — Corning scored 42 points in the first quarter and opened its season with a 70-12 victory over Friendship Aspire on Friday at Bobcat Stadium.

Kenden McCollum’s ensuing kickoff stopped at the 1, where Corning recovered. Jaggar George immediately threw a touchdown pass to Caden Sweaney, and Small’s conversion run made it 16-0. Friendship Aspire later punted through its own end zone for a safety.
Small added his second rushing touchdown and another conversion before Friendship answered. Zion Ford connected with Rashawd Smith for an approximately 85-yard touchdown, cutting the score to 26-6.
Corning closed the quarter with two more touchdowns. Carson Dodson scored on a jet sweep and Nate Jansen ran in the conversion. Sweaney then intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown, followed by Lane Lucas’ conversion run.

A running clock shortened the second half. Lucas handled repeated carries on Corning’s first extended drive after halftime and moved the Bobcats to the 4. Nipper finished the possession with a touchdown and added the conversion.
Nipper scored again in the fourth quarter after breaking two tackles, completing Corning’s scoring.
